Christa Stehr, BEd. MACP, Registered Provisional Psychologist

Life comes with many challenges. At times, we are able to manage these challenges and sometimes we need some help. I’m Christa Stehr, a Registered Provisional Psychologist based in Edmonton. I'm here to help guide you through life’s most complex and difficult times. I truly care about my clients’ well-being so I tailor my counselling and psychological services to meet their individual needs. 

I am here to help with issues such as anxiety, depression, family conflict, parenting, stress and burnout, grief and loss, trauma, relationship difficulties, effective communication, life transitions (such as children leaving home or moving in to retirement) and adjustment issues (such as losing a job or the breakdown of a relationship). I also offer skills training in parenting, discipline, mindfulness, communication, cognitive modification and emotional management.

I come from a background in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy (SFBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). My belief is that you have the insight, strength and knowledge to be able to create healing and change in your life. It is through a team approach that I work with clients to determine their goals and the ways through which we can achieve them.

Aparna S. Menon, MSc. MPhil., Registered Provisional Psychologist

Aparna Menon is a Registered Provisional Psychologist who believes that there is nothing more beautiful than seeing the glimmer of hope and happiness reawaken in someone's eyes.

She works with clients to build their strengths and achieve their life goals. She views the therapeutic process as collaborative educational and liberating process, so that when future difficulties arise, clients have the skills to resolve whatever they encounter.

Aparna holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology as well as Masters and MPhil degrees in clinical psychology. She brings years of advanced training and experience in the area of mental health to her work ranging from difficulties arising from daily life struggles to more serious psychological challenges.

Her areas of specialty include counselling for depression, anxiety (panic attacks, social anxiety, obsessive and compulsive behaviours, phobias, generalized anxiety disorder), eating disorders, psychosomatic illnesses and relationship issues.

She also likes to work in the area of personal growth and empowerment.

Aparna's primary therapeutic approaches are cognitive behavioural, solution-focused and existential in nature, but she also integrates several other modalities and perspectives depending on the client's issues, needs and style of learning. Her wide range of trainings give her many "tools" in her tool kit, and she is able to tailor therapy sessions to meet the needs of each client.

A Bit About White Lions

Why white lions? 

There is a great deal of symbolism associated with white lions. 

 Lions: Lions represent courage, strength, power and loyalty. Their noble and regal attitudes emulate independence and confidence, balanced by a quiet demeanour. Lions are known to roar only when it is necessary. They have a strong and loving family life and work together to ensure everyone’s needs are met. The lion represents many of the values and characteristics that can help us to live a rich and balanced life.  

White Lions: White lions represent the uniqueness that we all have as individuals. They are not albinos but are their unique colour because of a rare gene.

Due to overhunting, they were actually considered extinct in 2004, but have returned in numbers with the help of humans (reserves, zoos and societies). They embody strength and resilience and show us that we sometimes need help to become the best version of ourselves.

It was once thought that white lions would not be able to survive because of their inability to camouflage. Evidence now shows that their coloring does not hinder their survival. Like us, white lions are able to stand out and still thrive.
